Officially, the designer Thakoon Panichgul (above left), of Thakoon, is an adviser to Thailand’s ministry of commerce. But this summer he put business aside and spent two weeks looking for inspiration in the country’s northern mountain villages near Chiang Mai. He found it in the bright, hand-woven and embroidered silk and cotton ikats of the Karen and Lua tribes — a vibrant palette similar to the saturated red, turquoise, mustard and pink yarns in his recent spring collection.
I came up with this blog entry Thailand in Technicolor in T section of NYTimes and it’s so nice to see Thai culture marks some presence on such respectable media. I just learned that he’s an adviser to ministry of commerce though. And please note, I think his latest collection (shown above) is derived from India though.

The biggest sale event from the former socialite. The items include bags ans scarves from Chanel, Versace, Gucci, Emilio Pucci, Armani, Escada and men’s products from Canali and Zegna among many others.
The event will be held on Sat 10, Sept from 10am to 7pm, at Four Seasons Hotel.
All revenues raised from the event go to charity.
